Hey guys, just nearing completion of the initial batch of RA Terraria mods. All that's left is some finishing touches and boat load of badges. Wanted to get some thoughts since yall seemed to have interest in the project There are three mods: The RetroAchievements mod unlocks RA achievements for the user and enforces specific rules. It's the main RA mod and will control support of all external achievement mods: Login to RetroAchievements using the Chat command: "/ra login <user> <pass>". Once you enter a World, you can open the Chat menu by typing "Enter". If applicable, reset all previously earned local in-game achievements at the start of a new playthrough using the Chat command: "/cheevos reset all". Rules: -No Other Mods (see Allowed Mods for exceptions) -No Multiplayer -No Old Players/Worlds -No Celebrationmk10 Seed -No Journey Mode Allowed Achievement Mods: - Completionist Achievements - World Achievements Allowed QoL Mods: - Boss Checklist - Census - Town NPC Checklist - Item Checklist Chat Commands: - /cheevos reset all - Reset all local in-game achievements - /ra host - Get the current host - /ra login <user> <pass> - Log in a user - /ra rp - Get the current Rich Presence The Completionist Achievements mod adds completionist achievements to the in-game list for collecting everything: Rules: - No Celebrationmk10 Seed - No Journey Mode Items that are exclusive to difficulties and special seeds are excluded, so that all achievements can be obtained in standard playthroughs. For RA, they don't allow them. With the RA mod loaded, it will always block those no matter what achievement mods you have loaded. They are simply standalone achievement mods that can be played with RA if desired

Ah gotcha, that makes sense it just seemed like they were allowed since you specify Journey mode and Celebrationmk10 seeds are not allowed in all 3. So really the other 2 have no extra rules compared to the base mod right?

Yep. Well, except the World mod has extra in-game restrictions like I was saying. For Expert, Master, and Legendary runs you can't use weapons you shouldn't have in that state. Like no Hardmode weapons in Pre-Hardmode etc. This is just to prevent cheesing with past weapons and stuff

What do you mean? I disallowed it because I found that I would unlock achievements that I didn't do when playing with other people in the past, and it would be easier to cheat. I'm not opposed to allowing it, but there are extra design considerations as far as networking goes. But if yall think I should I'm down to put in the work

Personally I think it'd be solid to differentiate solo play and co-op with the base being restricted to solo-only as it is now and a multi set further down the line rather than trying to account for both (edited)

When you mentioned adding protections for having items you shouldn't have access to is that in regards to the difficulty sets and does that mean you have to do progression limited to the worlds current mode? Like I can't start a Zenith seed world and just go in using a Zenith sword and work through it

Exactly. You can't use the Zenith sword until you defeat Moon Lord for the first time, because it is otherwise impossible to craft it

The game comments make me question if I should allow multiplayer or not. I though softcore would be a good compromise, but I guess not. The problem with multiplayer is that it completely trivializes the game, to a point where there is no challenge in anything. Sure it's great fun, but I just feel like it's not suited for these sort of achievement sets, kind of defeats the purpose. It becomes a mastery that is not really worth being proud of in my opinion. I dunno, let me know what you guys think

I've seen enough people being carried in MH P3rd and enough time spent in Terraria to know almost definitively that there's no realistic way you could stop people brute forcing anything you could come up with (edited)

A multi subset with restrictions that requires actual teamwork would be something I'd consider a proud mastery, some of my best playthroughs with friends were when we restricted ourselves to not bypass the world's progression

Right now I think focusing on a solo experience makes the most sense. Terraria was always meant to be played through multiple times, it's what has made it last so long

In case anyone wonders about how I marked progression, I just referenced all of the achievements that re-logic added to the achievement advisor which is this thing . The advisor guides you to the end of the game to Moon Lord. I figured it was best to use this as the definition of intended progression

To my surprise, the game actually deletes hardcore players the exact moment they die. I still implemented a safeguard with a custom file that's not obvious

I never really played much multiplayer but do bosses scale on number of players and are there any game-breaking things that can be done in MP? For the difficulty subset if gear is limited to current world tier for all players I could see that still being fair if MP doesn't break other things

Playing solo and playing multiplayer are entirely different beasts, if this was any other game I'd still push to block multiplayer in the base set and have a multi subset. Best of both worlds

Boss health is determined at the time the boss is spawned. If a player joins the server after the boss has spawned, the boss's health will not update to account for the additional player.

They way I see it is that storage is already just simply a nuisance considering the amount of chests you find anyway. I've had multiple people ask me about it at this point, and I think it won't hurt to allow it

Smarter Cursor seems fine Auto Trash looks amazing, you can essentially set something to automatically be trashed by walking over it. I can see that being useful to avoid picking up 5000 dirt blocks while mining Auto Reforge also seems fine, although the page is lacking in details

@timenoe do you include the carrot (Bunny summon) item in the list of pets for the completionist subset? Apparently it is only gotten from the collectors edition https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Carrot
The Carrot is a pet-summoning item which summons a Bunny pet. It is only available in the Terraria Collector's Edition. The color of the bunny's fur is constantly defined by the shirt color chosen for the character when created, and will change should the Player change their shirt color via a Dresser.

My God this was giving me so much trouble I previously only have the last two lines. During a mod reload in the workshop, the events wouldn't get unregistered, so achievements would pop twice. Since the delegate is private, I had to do this nonsense to unsub it

It doesnt delete it. A message is displayed when entering a world instead of blocking it entirely, so people can play regular hardcore too

The main thing is that everything is done through hooks. tmod doesnt provide a hook for that, so I would have to detour private methods and get values through reflection, create an achievement condition specifically for it. tldr; it gets messy really fast, and tbh I dont think its worth it (edited)

I'm pretty sure the only reason the glitch happens is because of the frameX of the bast, so as long as it cant be toggled we should be good

This got sent to QA https://retroachievements.org/achievement/496366 I'd like to report an issue with Performance-Enhancing Potions (10): (Hello, i noticed that when using the "Drill Containment Unit" and pressing the "quick buff" hotkey you can progress in the "Performance-Enhancing Potions" cheevo, while using the "Drill Containment Unit" you can't drink any potions, so they're left unused, i don't know if this affects other cheevos though. Ps: Sorry for the absolutely horrendous quality of this video, my pc isn't on it's best state (and OBS is quite heavy), i'm gonna buy a better one later this year, not that you guys care haha.) https://youtu.be/d8z4XvDVctc

I think I've figured out what they're meaning by this When you right click on something that's in your cosmetic slot, it'll swap into your equipped slot even if it shouldn't be allowed due to progression
